Now, I'm not a proffesional artist, but I think I've found a simple method when it comes to drawing feathered wings. There are lots of variations on the technique, but the basis is quite simple. The main variation for me comes from altering the feather shape and regularity to suggest characteristics like hardness and stiffness, and you can alter the feather shape for fancier stuff.
And it doesn't take too long, either. The wing I drew here took me roughly 20 something minutes, plus scanning time in between steps.

Do you think this would work on a phoenix or other type of bird, instead of a person? (I'll fav this one anyway, in the case I ever am starting from the beginning for other pictures. )
