Going to France

Tue Nov 3, 2009, 3:34 PM
I've got a one-year contract as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Montpellier in the south of France, so I'll be going there next week. This means that for a while I would be busy trying to make a good impression as well as learning french, so I probably won't be doing much drawing for a while.

I've been enjoying my holiday as an unemployed bum for the past couple of months, and I've managed to travel around australia a bit and do the things I've always wanted to do - dive in the Great Barrier Reef in Queensland, drive through the Great Ocean Road in Victoria, visit the Blue Mountains in New South Wales, and visited Cradle Mountain in Tasmania. I've got a tan line on my face where my sunglasses have been from all those driving around, so it was really good.

anyway, on the artistic side, moving means that I may not be posting anything for a while until I can get everything sorted, but since I haven't posted anything for a while now it probably means just the usual.

2nd Hand 'Exotique 3' artbook for sale

Mon Sep 21, 2009, 2:40 PM
I've got a Ballistics artbook I'd like to sell (because I've somehow ended up with two copies and only realised it when I was moving house and packing all my stuff). The artbook is:

EXOTIQUE 3 : The world's Most Beautiful CG Characters by Ballistics publishing

Front Cover:

Back Cover:

It's still in as-new, mint condition, as it has rarely been opened (I've been using the other copy for my personal use). I'm selling it for AUD $25 (Brand new price was $53 as seen on back cover) plus postage (or if you're in Adelaide we can work something out).

anyone interested? I think it's pretty good value, and the book should be an excellent addition to any CG enthusiast's library.

One hectic month

Thu Aug 27, 2009, 10:15 PM
Firstly, looks like I've suddenly got a sbscription, so thank you very much to *Wereboard

Anyway, I haven't posted anything since AVCon, because it's been a very hectic month. Finishing my current job, sorting out a new one, moving house, and a five-day trip to Darwin right in the middle. So yeah, it's been a rollercoaster month. The trip to Darwin was great fun, moving house was a huge pain in the butt. Plus I'm trying to finish off my current work, and if I do get this new job (I'm pretty sure I've got it, but you know you can't count your chickens before they hatch) I'll be moving away again before christmas.

Either way, I'll be unemployed the week after next (hopefully temporarily, if all goes to plan), so things should ease up a bit. I should finally have some time to finish some of the drawings I've started, and to those people at OZtaku I'll finally get around to doing the one-shot manga for the anthology.

So expect to see some more art uploaded in the near future, including the ones I've sold at AVCon but haven't uploaded here. And if anyone would like to commission me I'd be able to do them very quickly as I'll be a dole bludger for at least the next couple of months (for pricing, send me a note with the details of what you need).

p.s: For those of you who don't know posemaniacs, the "thirty second drawing" tool is a great way to practice figure drawing (I usually set it at 45 seconds).

If the figure don't load up properly the first time just try hitting 'refresh' on your browser - that usually works for me.

AVCON Wrap-up

Mon Jul 27, 2009, 4:04 PM
Hi Everyone,

AVCON's over, and I think for my first time selling stuff at a convention it was quite a success. It was surprisingly exhausting considering I was mainly sitting down all day, but time really flies when you're busy.

Many thanks to all of you who visited my table/came to the art workshops - you made it all worthwhile. It was very encouraging to see that there are a lot of people here in Adelaide who are interested in my work. The workshop was a bit strained for time especially on Sunday and I could only show a small fraction of the things you can do with CG, but then considering we were catering to as broad an audience as possible I think it was reasonably successful. Thanks for all the feedback - it made it all worthwhile.

Anyway, to those of you who already comissioned me during the convention, I should have everything done by this week, so if others would like to comission me please send me an email and I can get right on it next week.

See you at AVCon

Hi All,

AVCON's this weekend, so those of you in Adelaide, I'll hopefully see you there! I'll be selling prints in the artist's alley, so please drop by for a chat (and maybe buy a print if any takes your fancy).

Also, I'll be giving an art workshop with Andrew and Anthea, so please drop by if you're interested. the schedules are:

Meeting Room 1/2 (Panel Room):
Saturday 2:30 pm = Figure drawing
Sunday 2 pm = Colouring and CG

Other than that, if people wants some crits/tips on their drawings, feel free to drop by after the workshop.
